EP 19: Anti-racism for Allies Q&A Session - Co-host Tina Dyer

Feb 18, 2021

In this session, we're talking about some of the reasons why we think people are against the BLM movement and why it's important for there to be more representation of black voices and imagination.

Special guest Tina Dyer provides her expertise on understanding white supremacy and anti-racist work.

Questions:
(
00:20:45) Why are people so against Black Lives Matter?

(00:29:42) What is the ultimate goal of Black Lives Matter?

(00:33:25) I’m astounded by the number of people (some friends and family) who are anti-anti-racism or anti-unity. I was saddened by the boos during the Kansas City football game on Thursday. I see that many white people are excusing their hatred because they say that the BLM organization is Marxist (self-proclaimed perhaps?) Thoughts? Do you think that there is value in separating the organization? What would you say to someone that cannot separate the two?

(00:38:59) What is the goal of anti-racism? Is it to achieve equality, awareness, or something else? How would someone know if they are anti-racist or not just pro-equality?

(00:44:46) How can I implement anti-racism work into my daily work environment?

(00:53:53) Is learning with books or with action better?

(00:57:51) Closing
